# 1 Short title, extent and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Prevention of Black marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980.
(2) It extends to the whole of India 1***.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 15th day of October, 1979.
